May 19, 2005: New York State Senator Charles Schumer is pushing for a new law that would require parental consent before a credit card company can issue a student credit card to any high school or college student. Under the proposed law, parents would also receive a copy of their child's monthly credit card statement. "If the parent sees the student is spending too much, they can put a lid on it."
